After fifteen years of this I would say it’s a bit late for an intervention. I think she should be left alone now because she won’t change and the harm has already been done.

you have every right to be scared..your step mom is extremely skinny and taking this huge amount of pills could lead to heart, blood, and a couple of other problems in her body…if she becomes too skinny she will have a problem with her stomach and her internal organs and the same the limited space they have

sounds like she most likely suffers from anorexia. she should really be seeing a doctor. all the diet pills and starving herself can add up to a ton of health problems. i wish i had a simple answer but she does need help. good luck.

Wow. That’s all I can say. This person obviously has a problem, and unfortunately you’re not in a position to get inside her head and heal her. Personally I think she should seek professional help. You can ask your doctor if s/he can recommend someone, but you probably can’t drag her with you to the doctor; you may just need to accept that you can’t change her. You just have to learn the tools to accept what you can’t change.

    Good luck.

Hi, thats so wonderful that you are concerned about her. I definitely would be as well. My parents are both in the medical field so I know a bit myself about these sort of things. I would suggest first going to the person with the most sway over your stepmom and get them to talk to her about the very serious potenial health problems that could arrise from what shes doing. Talking to a doctor is by no means a bad thing to do. If it means the health of your stepmom, I would suggest arranging a meeting with your stepmom, her doctor, and possibly yourself if the doctor needs someone from the outside of her problem to give their opinion…
    i hope this helps.

I’m glad to hear that you love her so much to be concerned. Have you spoken to your Dad about this? The next step is to see her in the hospital with tubes stuck into almost all of her orifices. Since she’s been at this for an extended period, I’m afraid that there’s no intervention that will help. I feel for you but you’re pretty much out of the loop. You can speak to your Doctor, what he will do is beyond me.
My wishes are with you, have strength, things will go down hill quickly.

I don’t think your making a big deal out of it, I think your step-mom still has an eating disorder and needs help, if she’s already thin why does she need pills to control her appetite, she can eat healthy and exercise without gaining weight, there are side effects to most diet suppressants and you should be concerned because your sisters maybe headed in that same direction.
